uummm you have itunes 4 that is a little old. so just download the new on itunes 7 here is the link and it is free. they will ask your your e-mail. but they have a privisey police ok. so you will not get spam. here it is http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
now if it dose not work than you have a old computer right. well you will need a newer one. when i mean old like 5 years. so there you go.

download the newest version of iTunes, new ipod only work with iTunes 7 or later

iTunes cannot read ipods that were made after it, since when that itunes came out, the ipod was not programmed into it. so you need to download the new version (for free) at http://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/download/

urgrade by opening iTunes and select HELP from the toolbar athe very top of the itunes screen. select check for updates from the drop down window that appears. iTunes will automatically update the software.
