unless you are super duper close to all of your family i would suggest maybe a small gift for the extended family... maybe a 5 dollar simple gift for them, or do a cookie tray.. i make cookies and breads everyyear and ppl love them! as for your mom.. all depends what she likes, but i usually end up spending a lot on my mom cuz i know her well and what she likes, but i think 1 "larger" gift and maybe a couple small gifts
the 2 year i would prob spend the most, but check dollar stores, family dollar, dollar general, big lots, etc for cheap toys. toddlers are amused by many things.. it should be easy. dependign on your family size, you could pull it off for very little $$
also things to check- clearance, closeout sales, weekly ads, coupons
also some stores offer you a 10% discount or somehting like that when you use their credit card so you could save some money there
start picking up things here and there if you happen to spot something you know sumone will like. 10 dollars here and there doesnt seem to put as much of a toll on your wallet like shelling out 100 in one trip does. If you are crafty, you could make your own gifts too. I made my bf a quilt and eventhought it ended up being just as expensive tp make as it would be to buy- i bought materials as i needed them so they money didnt seem to be going all at once.
another idea- save your change... i did this for vacation one year- i just enver spent change and in about 4 months i had about 100 dollars saved and you dont miss 70 cents here and there....

Hi Athena.

I too am on a tight budget this year. I have a really big family so last year I had lots of people to buy for. Me and my partner had 43 family members and then each other. I spend £10 per person, which is £430 but then I spend about £60-£70 on my partner, so I spent about £500 last year.

This year we've told our families that we're only buying for parents and siblings, which takes our list down to 15 people. We'll still spend £10 per person so we're making £150 for present for other people our budget this year, and we're NOT going over. Lol. Hopefully.

I'd reccommend a set amount for each person. Work out what you can afford and divide it by the amount of people you have. Good luck and happy holidays!

If you're on a tight budget this year, then spend what you can, it is the thought that counts after all, not how much the gifts cost.

This year I will be giving gifts to 5 people and I typically try to spend between $50 to $100 per person.

I think I spent about $600-$800 last year...but I have my daughters first Christmas this year so it will probably be a little more!

Oh and my budget was very tight last year. I was saving for baby and trying to pay off my car before she came! I just got smart and started shopping in late oct/early nov.

I normally buy for 20 - 25 people and i spend between $600 & $800. it may seem like lot but that includes any decorations and wrapping i may buy. also, 7 of the people i buy for have b-days between thanksgiving and christmas so I combined their gifts.

If you're crafty at all you may want to make your gifts. Candles, potpouri, scrapbook for photos, decorate picture frames, personalized family ormarments, make centerpieces for the ladies.... So many things you can do and if you buy craft supplies in bulk it can save you alot!!
