Without Dennis Rodman, the Bulls never pull off their second three-peat.
His career was of Hall of Fame caliber...he wasn't the greatest rebounder of all time, but he may have been the best rebounder among non-centers. Had he played in an era dominated by centers, his rebounding numbers wouldn't have been close to what they were.
He was also probably the greatest defensive non-center ever to play the game. At 6'8 or so, Rodman could defend and lock down any player who wasn't a seven-footer.
During his time with the Bulls, he was also probably one of the 2-3 smartest players in the NBA.
As I said, his career was of hall of fame quality...it's a question of how much his off the court antics will play into the voters minds.
He also played a key role on five NBA championship teams, and an especially key role in the Bulls three-peat of 96-98, by providing a strong inside presence which had been absent since the departure of Horace Grant a couple of years earlier.
Does he deserve induction? Yes.
Will he make it? Impossible to say, depends on the voters.

Nope
Rodman was a quite good defender and great rebounder, nuff said ... But at the offense end Dennis wasn't a big deal.
Yes he made some shots, but compared to players like Howard, Karl Malone back in the days, KG ...
They all grab(bed) boards, ok maybe not as much as Rodman, but they do/did score 20 a game besides cleaning the boards. So in my opinion he's a memorable, colourful player, but not real Hall of Fame material.

No. He was a hellacious rebounder but that was all. He has 5 or 6 rings, but that was more due to being in the right place at the right time than HOF talent. I'm a Bulls fan and a Rodman fan, but I don't think he belongs in the Hall. What Student said about his being a bad teammate is a very good point also.

Rodman became into between the suited one dimensional gamers (his D became into sturdy yet no longer marvelous - granted utilizing his super athletesism yet frequently in line with him being a soreness interior the @fifty 5 and different gamers hating him) yet to be trouble-free i do no longer think of he's hall of acceptance cloth. each and every spotlight has a tendency to have a corresponding low-gentle in specific gamers careers. In Denis' case there are some fairly massive low-lighting fixtures there jointly with him and a gun interior the carpark on the Palace at Auburn Hills hastening his departure there, Dissing the team and David Robinson and getting jettisoned from San Antonio, kicking the cameraman, no-exhibits, disrespect of teammates, suspensions by ability of the two league and coaches too numerous to show...the checklist is going on. Or, as a approaches because of the fact the league is in contact, in line with threat the phobia is he will ensue to Springfield in his properly-enjoyed wedding ceremony gown.

Rodman is definitely a Hall of famer. Being that good a rebounder despite being undersized, winning 5 rings surely is enough reason to put him there with the elite.
Those who say he's just a rebounder obviously don't know too much about basketball. Rebounds equals rings!

Very good question. He is borderline imo.
Rodman was the premier rebounder of the 1990s with seven straight rebounding titles, and matched up defensively with players ranging from Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird, to Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning, Shawn Kemp, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley.
If anything, his controverial behavior is what people frowned on the most and could ultimately keep him from getting that prestigious honor.

No, Rodman does not belong in the hall of fame. While he was an outstanding rebounder, he was not a complete player. That is to say on the offensive side he was not much of a threat, though he clearly could of been based on his game in college. Rodman was also not the greatest teammate. He thrived with the Bulls in large part due to Jordan's commitment to winning, though one has to remember he was quite detrimental with the Spurs. All in all, I think while Rodman was a good player, he was not great and therefore he does not belong in the hall of fame.

If anybody knows anything, Rodman belongs in the Hall, he has the rings, the rebounding titles, and the Defensive player of the year awards....he belongs.
You idiots who say he don't belongs need to excuse yourself from the basketball section, he dominated the boards in his era..LOL one dimensional, ok if thats the case Bird does not belong because all he could do was score....too easy, learn the game, Rodman is a lock and he will get in.

It cracks me up!! The idiots that say he doesn't belong.......
Yeah, rebounding doesn't matter, and defense doesn't win championships right!?!
Look at the recent champions that the NBA has had. How many of them were a defensive team?
Who cares if the guy only gives you 18 more chances a game to score. Who cares if he is as close to a shut down defender in the post, as you are going to get. He doesn't score 40 pts a night so he doesn't belong!!!
Whatever, last time I checked, basketball was still a team game. He didn't need to score to make his TEAM better. He left that to the boys that were good at that, Isah, Joe, Pippen, Duncan, and Jordan. Oh wait, does that mean he has a bunch of rings.................Yep!!!
Your right he doesn't belong!!! Idiots!!!
