CORRUPTION in professional sports is here to stay. MLB, NFL, NBA, Boxing, MMA What’s next?

The list goes on:

MLB: Barry Bonds is still being accused of using an enhanced drug.
NFL: Patriots, now come on, spying on your opponents, not very patriotic.
NBA: Tim Donaghy refereeing on games he was betting on.
Boxing: There has always been a bad image for boxing and corruption.
MMA: UFC 75 fight between Michael Bisping and Matt Hamill as a victory for Bisping

I didn’t ever want to believe that there was someone behind professional sports pulling the strings, but now I believe otherwise. The facts are in front of us everyday.

Where there is money, there will be corruption. It is sad.

I guess after a few beers and the event starts it really doesn’t matter.

Just remember, sports is entertainment, and these things that go on just make it more entertaining.

Think about it for a second, all these scandals are attracting the interest of people who aren't even into sports. Why?? Because they appear in the Headline news now, not just the sports section anymore.

There will always be someone attempting to fix a game here or there or even a series of games here or there in sports. It's happened ever since the Blacksox scandal in 1908 which led to Shoeless Joe Jackson and 8 other players getting lifetime bands from MLB. The problem lies in that gambling and betting on sports games is big buisness, one the bookies don't want to loose. So if they can fix it so that they have an edge...they will always try. So the real problem is how to end illegial gambling when it comes to sporting events..... because that is a big reason for the corruption in sports. Yes, sometimes the cheating comes from within....the old saying "if you ain't cheatin'...you ain't trying" rings very true unfortunatly with some people. It's anything to win, to hell with what could happen later. (getting in trouble, kicked out of the sport, etc). So yes, cheating always has, and probably always will be a part of sports. However, we know that for the most part.....most of our athletes, coaches, judges, refs...etc.....are on the up and up. So take pride in what is right in sports, and when the wrong things in sports happen...let them be punnished for being the fools who do it. That's basically all you can do.
