I am wondering myself if the State is being a bit overzealous to prosecute a case which sounds shaky at best. Don't get me wrong, I think he was guilty (of the murder) -- but I also think there's an "out to get him" force at work here.

I don't want revenge. I just want him to stand trial for the offenses charged against him, most of which involve the use of a deadly weapon in commission of a crime. Although my state of Nevada has an "open carry" law when it comes to the ownership of firearms, we view the use of such weapons to commit a crime very seriously. For one thing, the sentence for the crime is doubled. For another, the crime is considered a non-parole crime when it comes to sentencing. That means the guilty party has to do 80% of the adjudged sentence before being released on supervised probation.
The last thing we need is incidents where people enter hotel rooms armed with weapons. Tourism is a vital segment of our state's economy. If the charges stick, Mister Simpson faces the possibility of 40 years in prison. This isn't the People's Republic of California. It's the old West.

Not being an American I cannot speak for them but I suspect the relatives of the 2 persons who he alleged murdered would love to seek revenge.

I don't think that we need to ; he is his own worse enemy and walks everyday with the knowledge and the visual in his head; no jail bars can be as confining as your own thoughts and dreams
