ISLAMIC LAW: THEFT--imprisonment; amputation of hands or feet but depends on the number of times stealing is done, the item taken, and 2 eyewitnesses must see it taking place (either 2 men, or if 1 man can't be found, then 1 man and 2 women must be eyewitnesses). For amputation of HANDS, the thief must be adult and sane, must have a criminal intent to take private property; it must not done because of hunger, necessity or duress; goods taken must be over a certain value, not owned by the thief's family, and not taken from a private place. If the thief repents, punishment is NOT given.
For ADULTERY--Stoning to death for either man or woman involved. Person must confess to the crime, or 4 men (or , for women, it must be either 4 men or 8 other women) had to see the act being committed. For unmarried men or women, punishment is 100 lashes.
ILLEGAL SEXUAL RELATIONS--Both men and women are guilty unless rape is involved. Unmarried sex is allowed only with slaves, or captives of war (a captive woman can consent to marriage if the Muslim man wants to marry her).
A law in SINGAPORE, that was on the news a couple years or so ago, said a person can be CANED (beaten) for simply being caught CHEWING GUM IN PUBLIC.
