A box is given a push so that it slides across the floor. How far will it goi, given that the coefficient of kinetic friction is .20 and the push imparts an inital speed of 4m/s ?

This can be solved by looking at the loss of KE due to friction
The intitial KE is
.5*m*v^2
The ending is zero. The loss goes to friction
normal force *u*distance
or
m*g*u*d
set these equal
divide out m
.5*v^2=g*u*d
solve for d
d=(.5*v^2)/(g*u)
