Well, pop of the 60s was like the Beatles, they sang cute little pop love songs, but then Bob Dylan came slong and put lyrics about war, revolution, philosophy, racism etc. into rock music, which was pop at the time. he brought the folk lyrics into pop.

Quite a few bands in the early were doing blues music. As many of them were from England and had grown up hearing a lot of the black blues players from here in the states such as Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson Elmore James.

To name a few were The Yardbirds, John Mayall and The Blues Breakers, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Jeff Beck Group.

the 50's alot of cute rock and doo-wop love chants as was the early 60's, then the mid to late 60's was mostly war songs, protest songs about the events of the time, and bubble gum (teenybopper) music mixed in. I love the 50's & 60's and 70's music. Those were the days.

Yes cars had radios. You might hear the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, etc. Some of the biggest singles of 1966 were "Paperback Writer" by The Beatles (which would be ironic), "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys, or "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown.

War...peace...love...revolution...sex...art and politics.

Popular culture now is about being thick...ugly...stupid...uneducated and tasteless.

Glad I was around then!
