Hi Guys an Gals!

Just wondering if any of you can help me out with a little dilema,
my little hamster Noodles has just died, were talking a matter of minutes!
My dad was really attatched to her and is really upset and wants to get another one as soon as possible, here lies my dilema, how long should i leave it before getting another one?
the caged has been throughly cleaned out and she didn't die of wet tail, she just went in her sleep, so there is no chance of a new little fella catching anything nasty.
Me dad wants a new one tomorrow, but im not sure!
Any helpful suggestions or advice would be really helpful
Many Thanks!

when my hamster died, i made jam out of it.
It was discusting, so i threw it away.
Next day, there were tulips growing in the bin!
I thought this was wiered, and asked my dad about it.
he said it was normal, and there was even a song about it.
Havent you heard of "tulips from hamster jam" he said?

hope this cheers you up a bit

I think getting a new hamster right away would be great! Your dad was the one that was attached so if he's fine with getting a new one I say go a head! It will help to move on and begin something new. This way he wont have his mind on whats not there anymore!

Whose pet will the new hamster be? If your dad wants a hew hamster, and he wants to take care of it, then let him use the cage, and get himself a new one. If he expects it to be "your" pet, and you have to take care of it, then just tell him you are not ready to get a new one right away because you still kind of miss Noodles. But, I have to warn you....it's your dad, and if he wants a new hamster, or he wants you to have a new hamster right away, then you are about to get a new hamster. Just make the best of it. I agree that for a pet for you, you should wait a while.

Get a new one, but on top of the hamster cage give Noodles a memorial, like a little sign that reads:

"Noodles
****-2007

I don't think you should get one tomorrow! You need some time to grieve and get over the death. Maybe in a couple weeks. But that's just me! My hamster died 5 years ago and I still haven't gotten a new one, but that's cus I got a fish instead. :)

It broke my heart when I lost my hamster. He was 2 and a half when he left and so adorable that I couldn't stop crying. I used to blow raspberries onto his belly, he loved that. His name was Jack, he was black and white and so cute. He used to curl up and go to sleep on my shoulder under my hair, probably thought it was his nest.

I bought another one the next day and loved her just as much, but she could never replace Jack and she was never meant to but it helped ease the pain.

People mourn in their own time, there are no set rules on how long it should take. When you feel up to it go to your local pet shop and just look at the other hamsters and if you like one of them, get it, and love that one just as much.

Take care.

well that all depends on you. If you think you could love and care for a new pet right away then there should be no problem with getting a new one right away.

Get rid of the hamster NOW!! it would soon crawl with decaying flesh and bacteria. You should probably get a new hamster in a few days.
First, get over the first hamster. should take a few days. don't get one too soon though because you cant be able to handle seeing a new hamster when you are still trying to get over the other on e.
