It was one of the decks on a galleon, the Poop-deck, being the high deck at the stern. It also means to be tired or worn out (pooped). However I suspect you mean the vulgar meaning of excrement probably derived from the expression 'Poo' when one smells it and changed to poop as a sort of jokey description for one who might tread in it as it is also short for nincompoop.

because you scoop dogs poop don't you (or cats i suppose). a poo-er scooper doesn't really work does it, but a poop-er scooper is just the thing!

Because shite stinks, human nature makes you say "pooh!" when you smell it.
