I wish they were that smart. Actually, I just wish that more people would listen to his message. How did America get SO dumb? We were given a Constitution that allowed for an unlimited amount of political choices, and somehow, we whittled it down to two choices. Even Ron Paul had to sell out to get noticed. It's crazy, and he knows it more than anyone...

I think America is smart enough to look at the candidates for themselves. I have looked at Ron Paul and I just don't see much of a leader in him. I also think he is too busy giving history lessons and accusing people of not following the Constitution when asked tough questions rather than really answering. He may do better on the internet because he does not have to answer those tough questions. If he can't face the music now without getting flustered, what would he do in the White House?

Oh please, If Ron Paul were worth anything you would see his mug on the TV daily. The media sell advertising and the companies that advertise expect the media to run what is going to sell papers or get listeners (viewers). Someone like Ron Paul is a nothing and so it is a waste of very expensive space and time to cover stories about him. Somehow the Ron Paul groupies seem to think there is some mysterious conspiracy out to get him. They can't fathom that their candidate might actually be a loony toon. If Ron Paul is so helpless that he cannot overcome the perceived media conspiracy how is one to expect him to handle some evil dictator bent on taking us down? The main people using the Internet are pre-teens and teenagers most of whom cannot vote.
I have seriously looked at Ron Paul's stand on the issues and thought about them. They are pie-in-the-sky. In other words, even if by some miracle he were to be elected not one of his ideas would make it through Congress. In case you aren't aware, it is Congress not the president who makes the law. If they don't like a proposal made by the president than I doubt it would even get out of committee let alone to the floor for a vote. That would mean 4 more years of stale mate at best and probably worse.

I would hope that the question of electing Ron Paul doesn't come down to party politics, though it will. Ron Paul deserves the opportunity to run as a candidate, yet he chose a party that has little chance of electing him, since most of the people in that party do not side with progressive politics. He has a large following on the internet, but that doesn't mean he can escape his own party.
This is coming from someone who supports neither party. I look singly to the politics of the people within the different parties to make my decisions come election day. I do not support Ron Paul, as I disagree with much of what he says would be his policies. That said, he's earned more respect from me than any candidate in his party just by running on the line he is.

Unfortunatley, most americans are too lazy to do the research it requires to truly understand a candidate's platform. Americans usually (not always) choose a candidate that they like 1 thing about more than the other. Also, most people fear any type of drastic change, even if it is for the better. So I'm sorry to say (even though he has my vote), that Ron Paul doesn't have a chance.

Is America smart enough to elect ________.
Fill in the blank - after all, it's only an opinion - speculation and preference, at best.

Smart enough?
I am not too sure, but with enough grass roots efforts I am sure the message can get passed along and then people can decide for themselves.
