I have always had very regular periods and got pregnant very easily the first time...now I am trying again, but I miss my periods (some as far as 50 days apart). I have never missed a period in my life! I have a dr. appointment in Oct. but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?? or if anyone knows what could cause this?

It depends on what type of birth control you were on, and how long you've been off it. it's it's the pill or similar, can take a few months + for things to become 'normal' again- if it was the depo shot, could be years. Just because they're not regular doesn't mean you don't still stand a good chance of getting pregnant- good news!

Yes! I have taken several different types of birth control- and when I stopped them I always got my period right back to normal. BUT, that didn't happen with getting off my last birth control (NuvaRing). I am now in my 3rd month off it. The 1st month off of it I had spotting randomly and then a late but normal period. In the 2nd month I had spotting again, and then a week before my expected period I just got spotting for 6 days, then no period. I haven't had any spotting or period in almost a month now...

What caused this is messing with your natural hormones by taking artificial hormones.

How long it takes to straighten out -- if it ever will -- cannot be defined. Every woman is different.

In the mean time, you need to learn how to identify your body's signs of ovulation. There are many different signs, including body temperature, cervical mucous, cervical position, food cravings, mood changes, libido changes, sleep patterns, energy levels, etc. Your cycles do not have to be regular in order for you to ovulate, although regular cycles do indicate a measure of health.

If your doctor doesn't understand fertility awareness, you can try the Couple-to-Couple League or other programs that teach it.

I have / had PCOS which means that I didn't/ don't ovulate at all. I came off the pill after 6 months on 21 July and am going to test on Monday. I know of people who fell pregnant immediately, but I also know of one couple who had to go back on BC 3 times to get her periods regular and when she finally came off took another year to fall pregnant. I pray this isn't the case with you or me!!! BABYDUST!!!!

You can try an herb, like Vitex and FertilAid. Both are said to regulate periods and encourage ovulation. I've been using Vitex.

FertilAid is made in 2 different formulas for men and women, and help maintaina healthy uterine lining to help avoid an early miscarriage. In men, it strengthens the sperm. Good luck and I hope this helps!
