ground beef... it's more descriptive of what you're actually gonna get... you're not getting hamburger patties on your pizza...

Depends:

if the pizza tastes like cardboard, it's "beefy topping" (they can't legally call it beef)

if it's a specialty pizza called "double cheeseburger", I call it hamburger, even if it is little cubes instead of a patty.

if it's a regular pizza, with typical toppings (green pepper, pepperoni, mushroom, etc) and the beef is crumbled on, it ought to be called 'ground beef'.

I'm sure your province, state or county will have some law on the books as to what the legal wording should be to sell the product.

beef topping, like pork topping, just sounds too mysterious. It's like they make up a new name because the crap doesn't even have enough value to be hamburger.
I don't get either. I'll order pepperoni, or italian sausage, because that has a name. So it has to be controlled by some sort of standard....but if they just call it beef topping, it could be swept up from the floor for all I know.
