It would be a fine temperary home, but get a real habitat. If turtles are taken care of properly you can't really notice the smell, but if you go up and stick your face right next to the tank, it will probably smell.

That is not such a great a idea to keep a turtle in a sink! Yes, a nice turtle cage with a possible lagoon for the turtle would be nice. If you leave all of the turtles droppings and/or liquid in the cage yes it will stink very badly!

No I shouldn't think so. I wouldn't worry about the turtle smelling, if he's in the sink how are you going to wash up your pots & pans Yuk!
Seriously you should try & get the correct habitat for your pets or it's not really fair on them.
Best of luck buying the correct equipment.

Don't get a pet, especially a reptile if you are not able to provide a proper habitat. Turtles should be in large tanks or backyard ponds, not sinks. Turtles require LOTS of husbandry, and their supplies and food are expensive.
Turtles don't smell, but their tanks will if you do not have a filter.

a sink is not suitable to keep to your turtle in. he will need a uv lamp, a heat lamp, and a rock to bask on when he doesn't want to be in the water. go to your pet store and buy some books on keeping reptiles. educate yourself before buying any more pets.
please keep in mind, reptiles need a lot of special care; however, they are extremely hardy creatures and will survive in less-than-adequate conditions.... this causes them to suffer! it is cruel and inhumane to keep a reptile without proper care and housing. just because they "live a long time" doesn't mean they aren't being tortured.

Not a good idea. You need basking heat lamps and UVB bulbs, water heater, filter, etc. Check out the care sheet at this website for complete setup care!
