Funny isnt it, as soon as someone in the public eye backs the Mccanns ( or appears to ), they are immediatly targated as public enemy number 3!!! ( obviously after Kate and Gerry )
This arm chair witch hunt is getting stranger by the day!!!!!
Wonder who will be next?

Army chair witch hunt is a very fitting name actually.
Take a look around this section, many different theories, many people wanting the parents punished. But at the end of the day what they all doing about it?
Oh thats right, NOTHING except sitting at their computers on sitting watching the latest news

Here on y/a, most likely. In the papers and news, no.
Who will be next? I don't know, who?
I find it funny how people refer to asking questions or placing opinion in an answer as a "arm chair witch hunt". Let's see wouldn't the term "lazy crucifixion", contradict itself? Just like "arm chair witch hunt"? Find something new to use please. Do you know back when they actually did witch hunts you could be burnt at the stake for having a third nipple? Thank god we truly do not have a mob mentality anymore, if that was the case the McCanns probably would have been stoned to death months back. Give it a rest.
Edit: This is a forum, nothing more, nothing less. An area for people to ask questions and have them answered. If someone chooses to see the bad instead of the good with the McCann's, does not make them wrong. Just because some choose to see the good with the mc canns, does not make them wrong either. The terminology you are using does contradict itself. You are using the term armchair with an action, not person(s).The term armchair psychiatrist or armchair doctor, would be correct. It's like posing as something you are not, like an armchair doctor. Or having knowledge of something you haven't done yourself, like knowing a lot about football, but have never played it. So you could use internet witch hunt or forum witch hunt, etc, which would be correct.

Lets look at facts - the Madeleine fund spends 80,000 on advertising but hoards the rest of the money.
Richard gives 100,000 to the main suspects. Whether they are innocent or guilty that is just obscene - more for the suspects than goes to finding Madeleine!!!!
If the McCanns really want to find Madeleine then they should donate the money to the search!!!
Just sick!!!!! Forget the victim protect the parents that neglected her and allowed it to happen!!!
Do any of these celebrity chasing class conscious idiots really want to find Madeleine? Because I see no sign of it!!!!
Search for Madeleine and forget the rest. She was a defenceless little girl. If alive she needs rescuing. If dead she needs her murderer to be caught and punished but above all she deserves a decent burial.
Where is every ones basic humanity?
MADELEINE comes first, second, third and every other number until she is found and anyone who thinks different is a sicko!!!!

Well said Lisa. What people seem to be forgetting is that there is still a little girl missing out there somewhere, and I , as well as Richard Branson, and you of course will not give up looking for her , even if the rest of the world seems so hell bent on getting their pound of Kate and Gerry's flesh, it isn't about Maddie anymore. I do hope everyone watched The "Tonight with Trevor McDonald" show tonight, as it really convinced me even more of the innocence of the McCanns, but I doubt the "anti's" were moved.

Yeah, of course it is armchair witch-hunt.... Professional police like the Portuguese equivalent to the USA's FBI count for nothing. They are merely framing those poor McCanns.
Portugal ? Oh, 3rd world Judiciary ! What about Maddie ?!
Maddie ? Who gives a damn about the poor little thing, likely victim of a hideous murder. Madeleine is the least important person in this case. It is the Portuguese Police who want to frame those two angels. Blood evidence, body fluid evidence in the car they hired 25 days later, hair evidence, together with the hunch of professional policeman mean absolutely nothing. The McCanns decided to hire a car 25 days after the kid disappeared because they wanted to visit the Pope by car, as well as Morocco, Spain, etc. Branson ? He is their new godfather !!! So, who speaks for Maddie ? The Portuguese police have been trying to... but they have just been shut up !!! I thought Maddie was the centre of all this. I feel confident that the Portuguese Police want to find the people who hurt that little kid !
The fact that Branson jumped on the bandwagon means that MONEY is what is needed to get the McCanns off the hook. Maddie ? Who cares !! SAD.......... and well said "nicole b"

I disagree.
There don't seem to be many people not backing the Mccanns in public - but I suspect many people may have different opinions that they are worried about having reported, so keep to themselves. Who would dare criticise Kate and Gerry?
However, what he does with his money is his concern - but did he have to make it public?

I doubt he is in the firing line. To me, he seems a decent bloke helping someone out and regardless of the outcome to Mc Cann's saga he will not be damaged.

he is a good advocate of the principle that in todays society money can buy everything - including justice.
He is doing it as a cheap way of publicity for Virgin - That amount of media exposure would cost a lot more than he is donating.

Richard Branson is a self made Billionaire, He is one of the most generous people that was put on this earth, the money he gives already to childrens charities is phenomenal.
So, I wasn't surprised at all to find that he has donated money to looking for Maddie.
After all, he wants what everybody wants, and that is to find out what happened to Maddie.

Probably, although from what I've seen and heard most people are behind him because everyone looks up to him. Do these idiots really think he would risk his business, reputation and career to help out some child murderers?! He's highly intelligent unlike a lot of of the ignorant dossers on Answers and I still respect him whatever he chooses to do with his money. No-one knows the truth so they should stop criticising them because it's downright nasty.

But what does he knows that us, the police and the papers don't that makes him sure he's not paying to keep a child killer out of prison? She's a suspect, if she's innocent she's innocent and if she's guilty she's guilty. Surely if there is no evidence they don't need £100k It just makes them look guilty.
I don't think he's done them any favours.
** Its not a popularity contest. It's about finding the killer or a very small child. I just don't think throwing money at the main suspect is a great move.
