Out of all the candidates he is too far left to be on the Repulican ticket. I think he would do better as an independent or as a Democrat.
He jumped on board with criticism of President Bush's plan in Iraq like so many people but to be on the Republican side you are supposed to support the President Bush. I think that will cost him a lot, plus some of his views are fairly out of whack.
I like what I have heard from Former Senator Fred Thompson.

A very long one, indeed.
However, he is the one guy who had a consistent message for the last 30 years (unlike Hillary, Romney, or Guiliani) and is really the only true conservative, who represents the traditional Republican platform, running for President.
I'm switching from Independent to Republican, just so that I can vote for him in the primary.

One, I never heard of him. Two, what others are saying he is makes me realize he is too left and doesn't support the values voters issues. So my answer is no.
