Something that used to help my babies was to dip a Clean wash cloth in cool water and ring it out just enough so it won't drip than let the baby chew and suck on it. The roughness of the fabric will rub the babies gums which should help the pain. The baby will also drink the excess water.i hope this helps!! Best of Luck.

They have teething tablets, you can try.. I know for my daughter they didn't work.. but my niece used them for her son and she says they worked for him.. so you can try those.. their sold at Walmart in the pharmacy area.
You can use the baby oragel.. though I find that is very temporary in it's relief..
Personally for my daughter I gave her .4 dose of baby tylenol and that eased her pain.. and I did that from the time she was about 6 weeks old, until her first tooth broke.
Other things you can do.. get a wash cloth and wet it with either warm or cold water.. that preference depends on the baby.. my baby liked the warm water on the wash cloth.. other babies i know liked the cold water.. but the wet wash cloth as a chewing object is great for teething babies.
Frozen bagels work well too. (if the baby likes cold)
but personally.. if I were you.. if your baby is taking a bottle or the boob due to the teething.. then his pain is not good.. and so I'd give him a .4 dose of baby tylenol.. and then give feed him a bottle 5 to 10 minutes after.. that should help. .. at least he'd be eatting.. and out of pain.
Good luck.. I know a teething baby is not easy.
My daughter went through teething spells from the time she was 2 months old to now.. (she's 8 months old) Her first tooth broke finally at 7 months, and the second tooth followed... and I think her top teeth are getting ready to break through now.. but the point is.. teething pains, come and go for a while.. at least your son is breaking his first tooth early.
Good luck ! I'll be thinking of you.

I used to freezw a wet washcloth for a few min and let my daughter chew on that but a teething ring worked best for my daughter but I had to find one w/ a handle that did not freeze. Most teething rings have water in them all the way around and no plastic handle so when the baby holds it their little hands freeze too (although if your son is only 6 weeks he probably wont be the one holding it!). I found my daughter one shaped like a strawberry (it had a very skinny tip of the strawberry that fit in her mouth perfect) and the handle was all plastic w/ no water in it so it did not freeze like the strawberry part and she loved it so much I went back and bought 3 more and threw all the others away! I found it in the grocery store Jewel if that helps any. Good Luck!

My son is 9 and 1/2 months old. He is working on his ninth tooth, so he has been teething since he was born, or at least it seems like it!! I don't care for the Oragel. I really like the teething tablets, but they're kind of hard to find. They work really well. I also put ice in a clean wash cloth with a rubber around it, but your baby might be too young to hold it.

If he is fussy try the orajel to see if it helps, but you may want to try giving him some of the tummy drops, it could be that he has gas or an upset tummy too, that often happens with teething. Expect his diapers to be really nasty too! I know it sounds weird, but there is a definite odor when they are teething that you do not forget. If he is chewing on his fist giive him a clean cold rag to chew on, it might numb it out a bit and he will also be getting a small amount of water too.

It sounds more like he's hungry or gasy. I'm not saying it's not possible for him to be cutting a tooth, but try burping him and getting him to fart. On his back rotate his legs like he's riding a bike and on his belly, gently rub his back, shoulder's to butt. But if he is cutting a tooth, offer him a teething tablet, and call your doc for the proper dose of tylenol. But I would only do tylenol if nothing you do helps. (I was against the teething tablets at first, but my sis insisted that they work, and you know what? They do!)

Tylenol, Orejel, teething rings, wet washcloth...
Have you looked into Amber teething necklaces? I was sceptical at first, but a friend convinced me to try one. We have had no teething issues since! When the amber is worn against the baby's skin, the oils are released into the bloodstream. Just look it up!

Well I was watching tv and I heard that if you put a wet wash cloth in the freazzer for like 15 minutes and then let your baby chew n it then that helps calm them down and it makes their gums numb so they don't feel the pain. Hope this helps!

Try teething tablets. You just give him one and it melt in his mouth, you can get them at walgreens or wal mart or anything like that. Also wash your hands the then let him bite your finger, it would be nice to rub his gums gently with your finger or a wet washcloth too
