how are images of the American West viewed in other countries?

~Not being from another country, I can't say for sure. However, I assume if they are reading accurate accounts most people in other countries would view it as the lawless genocidal imperialistic expansion and conquest that it was. Unfortunately it is probably skewed by the cartoon myths of the cowboy and shoot-outs at noon on Main Street.
