Diesel Beetle gets around 60 on the highway and some other VW diesels get close to 50

right now Nissan has over 3 different models that get well over 35 miles to the gallon, the sentra is one of them,also the altima,and the versa,all get well over 35,and that just in Nissan,dodge has a few ,and so does ford,a lot of company's right now have models that will get good mileage,good luck.
