Multiplying anything by 2/3 is in essence the same thing as multiplying it by 2 and then dividing it by 3. Just something to keep in mind when figuring this problem out.
Given what I said above, you can rewrite it as this: 2(12-15d) / 3 and it is easier to work out (even though it is exactly the same problem!!)
2(12-15d) /3 =
24-30d / 3
If we could factor out a three from the top, that will cancel out with the 3 in the denominator. Sure enough, we can do that because 24 and 30 are both evenly divisible by 3:
3(8-10d) /3 = 8-10d
This can also be written as 2(4-5d)

This is only a partial equation. Does it equal anything? Or do you know what d is? If not, you should multiply the fraction through the parentheses. So:
2/3*12 - 2/3*15d
In order to multiple the fraction by the whole number you multiple by the numerator and divide by the denominator, so:
2*12/3 - 2*15d/3
This gives you
24/3-30d/3
Then divide by the denominator:
8 - 10d
That's as simplified as you can get it without knowing what it equals or what d is equal to.

You either need a value for do...or the equation should be set to equal zero. I will assume it equals zero, and in that case:
2/3(12-15d) = 0 ---> 8-10d = 0 ---> -10d = -8 ---> d = 8/10 = 4/5
d = 4/5

Distributive property. The number in front in multiplied to every term in parrenthesis.
2/3 * 12 - 2/3 * 15d
8 - 10d
