I enforced child support April of 2006 and it was official through courts July 2006. I have been calling the Child Support Services Dept every Monday for update and got no real answers then I recieved a court date February 2007 and he didnt show. Then a bench warrent went out for his arrest and still nothing. I filed for another enforcement in July 2007 and last week I called and they said it was in the Intake Dept. I supplied them with his social, date of birth and place of residency and nothing has been done. Why does this have to be so hard? Why do I have to force him to take care of his child and why do I have to force the government to their jobs?

my baby is 23, I have two daughters that are 25 and 28. their father still owes me $19,000.000 in back support. I gave up on it years ago. Good luck!
I never counted on it and always worked my *** off to support my children. Never counted on anyone to help me except my family, and they never let me down.

Good luck, but don't get your hopes up too high. My wife's ex owes well over $30,000 in child support. We'll never get a dime. The state of Michigan has never jailed him for more than 14 days. Now that the child is adult, NOTHING will be done. NOTHING. Sadly, if a guy won't pay, the state doesn't much care, or at least they act as though they don't care. By the way, in this case, the guy lives in the same county as us, and the Friend of the Court has had his address right along. He also was a parolee, and as part of his parole, he's required to abide by court orders, which IS what a child support order is. But, here, they can safely be ignored.

It is sad but true that these offices are so backlogged that they can't keep up, not to mention they don't pay much so the workers are not really worried about their work product. I can give you a little advice.

Find out the name of your worker (we have case workers that are assigned to us here in Louisiana and you may too) so once you find out who this is then you will have one contact person that you can keep calling, get to know and hopefully that can expidite things.

Next big thing is if you can you find out where he works....if you can do that job for them, give them the information and then they can begin the process of garnishing his wages.

Another thing is if he does work then he had to have filed taxes, so find out if they are researching these things, if he files his taxes and is expecting a tax return then the child support office can intercept that check and it will be sent to YOU.

Good luck.

You cant speed up the process. Is he still living close to you or cant they find him? that takes time. and if he isnt working then its very tough to get any money cuz you cant garnish his wages. I have an ex who owes over 15,000 and only pays when he feels like it and as much as he thinks he can afford after booze and smokes of course. He will be paying me off for the rest of his live at that rate but nothing i can do. He works when he wants for cash only.

The system isn't perfect - far from it. Just be thankful if you ever see a dime!..
