First off, I am a diehard Cowboys fan, so i am not biased towards any of these teams. It really seemed as if the Broncos should not have been allowed to call a timeout that close to the snap (of the field goal). It was so close, that nobody heard the whistle, and the TV network put 3 pts on the board and almost ended the broadcast. Do you think this rule (or lack thereof) needs to be fixed?

Thats fine if Shannahan told the refs he was gonna call the time but he waited too long period end of story, you cant
wait until the ball is snapped then call time out, sure you see Lynch calling time out but you couldnt see where the ball was could you. I heard the refs blow the whistle when the ball was already kicked and in the air. If the refs cant blow the whistle in time because the coach waited too long the play should continue as it did. This a serious flaw in the rule book that
needs to be addresed by the leauge. What if someone got seriosly injured on that play , what if one of the broncos ran into Janikowski and injured him ? what it wouldn't count
because the play was dead anyway? Yes I'm a Raiders fan
and yes a hate the broncos, but that doesnt change the fact that the raiders got robbed and there is a serious change
that needs to be made to the rule book. Icing the kicker is fine , but you cant wait until the last possible half a second
to do it.

well i may be biased because i am a raiders fan but in all seriousness i really think it's fine if both teams are aware of the whistle blowing....if u watched the game u could tell that both the broncos and raiders played the play like it was really going on....the broncos players werent even aware of the whistle blowing which is a little unfair i think....it should have been made more clear that it was a time out because the only person in the whole stadium that picked up on it apparently were mike shanahan and the referee that made the call....and that includes the tv broadcast and everything

I also am not partial to either of the teams involved, but have thought for a couple years now that some kind of rule change was necessary in such a situation.

A victory was taken away from the Raiders, even though what the Broncos did is legal under current rules. I hope the problem is addressed by the rules committee in the upcoming off-season.

Good coaches in the NFL do this all time when a potential game winning kick is about to be attempted. Shanahan told the ref on the sideline that he wanted to call timeout just before the snap. I was watching the game, and I clearly heard the whistle before the snap, and was expecting a flag for false start or a time out. Denver had the time out called.

The Raiders have no one to blame but themselves(or their kicker.) He hit that kick the first time, how come he didn't do it again?

This was just good coaching by Shanahan, and poor execution by the Raiders in the end.

No, I'm not a Broncos fan, I hate Denver. I'm a Browns fan. I hate the Broncos almost as much as I hate the Steelers.

isn't this variety of question a sprint weird and wonderful? The Raiders being robbed..that has been the M.O. of the Raiders for the final 30 something years. they are consistently complaining approximately getting screwed for this and that.

Mike Shanahan told the official that he was going to call a time out just before the snap and that's exactly what he did. It's a perfectly legitimate and legal tactic that DOES NOT IN ANY WAY take away a teams competitive edge. Coaches do it all the time in college and in the pros.

Janikowski just isn't a clutch kicker and the Raiders lost.

I understand you being mad because if that happened to the Broncos I'd be pissed off too, but it was legal and the Raiders just have to move on.

QUIT BITC*IN AND GET OVER IT!!!

GO BRONCOS!!!

well im a diehard patriots fan and i too feel that the raiders have been so close to winning in the last two games and that they shouldve won
they technically did except the broncos coach played dirty and robbed the raiders of a win

id much rather be a fan of a team who "cheated" (cause you know no other team in the nfl has tried to get signals at all) then a fan of a team that really does play dirty

This rule has been on the books forever, and this tactic has been used many times. I don't see that it hurts the competitive nature of the game in any way.

Bottom line, Janikowski is not a clutch kicker. The psychological tactic worked perfectly against him.

Why the Raiders didn't at least try it on Elam speaks to Kiffin's inexperience.

Raider fans shouldn't feel that they were cheated. It's not the Tom Brady tuck-rule. This was all legitimate.

It was legitimate. The time out was called BEFORE the snap. Raiders fans are going to cry and say they were cheated because that's their nature.

Fans of most other teams don't like Denver in general so they're going to chime in and say that it was dirty or that the refs cheated for Denver.

You should watch what really happened before you start telling people it was dirty. If you are able to pay attention, you will see that Shanahan did nothing wrong.

Janikowski lost that game for Oakland plain and simple. Get over it.
