Density is an intensive property, which means that the amount of a sample you look at does not change its value.

Therefore, the density of the halves will be exacly the same as the density of the whole.

You can prove this mathmatically: Say the bar was orginally 10g in mass and has a volume of 5 mL. This would give the original bar a density of 2g/mL.

If we cut the bar in half, each have would be 5g and have a volume of 2.5 mL. 5/2.5 is still 2g/mL. Density does not change.
