In fairness to a president that doesn't deserve it, he did not say that we should bring the troops home. He said that we should be able to go back to pre-surge levels of troops around July 2008. He does not care one way or the other, because he has been delaying the decisions that a true leader would address until after his presidency has ended. This is a shameful political game that will cost all Americans in the end. Conservative, liberals and everyone in between should be demanding more of our commander-in-chief. It's a selfishly motivated ploy, and I find it disgusting.

I think you may have misunderstood. He said he'll bring home about 30,000 in the next year. That will leave over 130,000 still on duty there. He hasn't changed his mind, he's just playing the game of politics and trying to have it both ways. He thinks he can placate the people opposed to the war by bringing a few troops home while leaving the rest there.

The last speech I heard him in last Thursday, he didn't say we should bring our troops home. yes we are withdrawing the troops back down to pre surge levels because security is to a point where we don't need that many troops. And he said we will continue to withdraw troops depending on the situation on the ground. I also recalled him saying that our commitment extends beyond his presidency. I don't recall him saying anything you just said.

You are wrong. You don't seem to understand plain English. The President will bring some, repeat some, troops if and when they are not needed. We have troops in Europe and Japan and WWII has bee over for 60 years.
Mr. Bush correctly anticipates that the muslim crazies will not quit fighting, even though they are defeated. The muslim crazies have been fighting in Afghanistan for 33 years.

The statement about staying in the war was on the advice of his military advisors.
the statement on coming home was from his poitical advisors, based on the latest polls
I think he cares but just doesnt have a clue what to do, he is merely a puppet of his regime.

no , he is not confused.
he will do whatever he has to do to prolong his being into the office. he does not want to screw up a good thing. he's profiting from all this... when he gets a few slaps on hand, he'll apoloize.. it's always easier to apologize than to get permission.
