In the rental application there is a section where u need to put ur bank account # and balance. Do they really check the balance? Will the bank allow this?

They can check the number against your credit report, the last 4 are posted. They can not check your balance without calling and the banks WILL say yes or no. You simply ask, "Account # suhc and such is writing me a check for xx amount, are there funds to cover this?"

Plese remember one thing that You DONT have to do something if you don't feel good about it....
No one can force you to put your bank account number on the application even if its there... Most companies have that on the application and will never look into it... So next time when you are filling out the application just ask : IS this part necessary??? Because I don't feel comfortable puttin my acct number there//// Most people will say ok leave it blank..skip to the next....

If there is a business relationship they will allow it and if you remember you signed the application and that give them the right to ask the bank for information. They are just trying to see your report card as an adult-credit information! God Luck with the property.

The lessor will probably check your credit report. Your name, bank account #, driver's license number all can be used to check your credit. Do not disclose your social security number.
The reason a lessor wants to check your credit is that this information provides the lessor with an estimation of your risk as a lessee.

Most people's balances go up and down as they get paid and as they write checks. I don't think that they will care if its off by a little bit. However, if you claim to have a $30,000 cash deposit ready in your checking account, and the bank tells them you've got $12.46, they might be upset.
