How can I get rid of Mealy flies?

These flies are in the lava stage now because i find them on my ceiling and in dark area's. I kill the flies when i see them but the worm like stage of the mealy is climbing my walls and they look like maggots. I have no dead animals that I know of and I don't have alot of plants

I moved into a house a few years ago and, within a few months, I had a bunch of little mealy worms crawling all around the kitchen ceiling. I tried spraying them with insecticide (the kind you mix with water and put in a sprayer). This would kill them but, within a couple of days, they were back.

One day, I opened an upper cabinet and saw a bunch of the worms in there. I also found an old box of cereal that had gotten pushed back to where I couldn't see it unless I was standing on something. Sure enough, that's where they were coming from. So, I threw out the box and cleaned out the cabinet, and I haven't seen the mealy worms since.

So, I would recommend you go through your kitchen and other cabinets looking for old dry food (cereal, cookies, even unsealed flour) that might be being used as a breeding ground/buffet for the mealy worms.
