only do anything if you are absolutely 100% sure because slander is a serious offence. but if you are positive then i would quietly let anyone with children aware that he is there and let the parents decide how to deal with this abomination... i hate paedophiles they do not deserve to be able to live among decent people infact they ought to be hung as soon as they are found to be peadophiles as they are no good to anything or anyone ...and they will always be peadophiles however long they live.

Well I have read all the answers and there are two things. One is that if you hound a person out of your area they go somewhere else and quite possibly in doing so do everything possible to hide their identity. So you have taken a tricky situation which was possibly under control and moved it to another batch of kids in a different area and made it worse. Secondly more children are abused by members of their own family than by strangers in fact I think you will find the ratio is 95%. So children are safer from peodophiles on the street than in their own home and all the trouble and misery you have caused has done little or nothing to solve the problems

How would I be the only person to know? Presumably the pedo and child involved would also know! How come I was the only other person to know? Had the child or pedo told me? Had I somehow stumbled upon them together? Found some other relevant information? The reason I ask these questions is that it is relevant to what I would do. The first thing is I would need concrete proof not heresay as pedo accusations have serious consequences and need to be treated as such. Second once I was sure of my facts I would present it to the relevant authorities and ensure they responded to it quickly and efficently. It is easy to say I would take some direct action against the pedo and if I had see the pedo with a child it would be difficult not to. However these things need to be dealt with properly as these are childrens and people's lives who are effected and how I chose to react to the situation could have consequences!

Registered or not?

At the risk of sounding like a lawyer, you need to consider the risks to yourself (financial) if you spread rumors that cannot be proved.

Once you're over that hurdle, notify all of your neighbors, especially those with young children, regardless of the gender preferred by the pedophile. If you KNOW that this person is a registered offender, then you can call the local police/sherrif and ask for more info.

You have a duty to perform here as I see it. IMHO you should notify the hood of this issue. You have a duty also to be right on, and if you're just jumping to a conclusion and you are wrong be prepared for a slander suit. Have the facts, then procede.

Good luck.

I would verify the information ... check the on-line database etc first. If he/she should be registered and is not on the list I would work to change that ASAP! If they are already on the list, I would make copies of the on-line information and distribute the information to the neighborhood.

PLEASE make sure that the information is correct before taking any action. Once verified, in my opinion you should do all you can to inform as many as possible. Especially make sure that anyone with kids has the info ... and anyone who does not use English as their 1st language may need some extra help understanding.

Good for you for wanting to take action!!!

Good luck!

Depends on what you mean . . . if you found the person in a government sex offender registry, you could make some flyers and deliver then door to door, if it really concerns you that much.

If it is because of something currently happening, REPORT IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. NOW.

If it is because of something that occurred in the past and was never reported, you might consider telling parents in the neighborhood to watch out for this person.

Also if that is the case, and you have this information because of personal experience, tell someone you can trust and let them help you.

Past? Present? Or may become one in the future? Convicted? or just you saw him or heard of him or her molesting a child? There are so many unnamed factors here, I would say if you know this person activly molested---you are by virtue of both morality and law obligated to report this to the Police, as far as being a gossip and a rumor monger, try to do something charitable instead. Those who served time for the crime of sex offender of children have payed for the crime and deserve to start a new life and become a good citizen. Or else what is the sentence for?? Prolonged punishment after release? The sentence is the punishment, so move on!

i'd informed (1) him that his sick games are over that i know about him, (2) find evidence to prove that the person is a scumbag (3) look the person to see if registered said sex-offender (4)the neighbors that way no innocent child is a victim of sexual, physical, emotional, or some other kind of abuse
**(5)Call Police**

They cannot live in my neighborhood - I live close to a school and it is illegal for them to reside close to a school so I would tell the police.

Besides that there are no apartments near me and the houses sell for over 300k. I doubt a pedophile could afford that considering the jobs they are able to obtain after conviction.

If a pedophile has been convicted, then the law officials have to notify the neighborhood. If not, you need to contact them.
If this person is not convicted, then you need to tell a trusted adult you have suspicions, why, and then let them handle it through the Dept of Human Resources to investigate.
