No they will not lock you up, don't worry. I assume since there was a stop payment on the check that you contacted the check writer. The next step is to contact the police. The store clerk will be out the money and since he knew the woman hopefully he can identify her and she will be caught and prosecuted. Good luck!

So he knew the woman well enough to not check ID, however failed to notice that the check was not made out to her.

He cashed a check without, taking ID. The check turned out to be stolen and he is on the hook because, he didn't no check ID. Don't worry too much about it. Let him call the police. Somebody stole your payroll check, you reported it. A stop payment was put on it (as is the procedure for a stolen check) And that buffoon cashed it without checking ID.

If anything he is harassing you. You should call the police. Tell them the situation and file a report for harassment.

The owner had no right to cash the check without proper ID. Especially odd is the fact he said he knew the person. He is admitting he should not have cashed it. Let him call the police.

It is not your fault he cashed the check. It is the liquor store's responsibility to verify the identity of the person cashing the check.

Call the police.

He knows the woman? That means, therefore, he knew she was not you. Then he cashed your check for her. He doesn't have a chance. Tell him to go after her and that if he keeps calling you, you'll report him for harrassment and sue him for same in civil court (which you can do). He'll go away.

Please. Someone "stole" your check not stoled. What if you call the police to report a stolen check, then the police can give it to the D.A. to prosecute, and the store clerk might get victim payments. And you'll hopefully get your pay.

If he knows the woman, then he is part of the fraud/theft, as he knew she was not the person named on the check.

You need to report this whole thing to the police.

IT HIS LIABILITY AND HE HAS NO RECOURSE AGAINST YOU
HE SHOULD HAVE VERIFIED THE CHECK AGAINST AN i d
If he claims he knows her, is he an acomplise? shouldn't the police be notified?
