i hear all these songs saying gypsy this gypsy that
heart of a gypsy queen
can't run away with the gypsy women
hear of a gypsy and the soul of a stone.. one look in her eyes and i was in right over my head
what the hell is everyone referring to?
and if it's some stereotype.. why the heck is it aloud
it's like gypsies are the only race left that people can bash and get away with it
whats going on
am i totally off

The gypsies, or Romani (singular = Rom, plural = Roma) are an ethnic group that are believed to have originated in the Punjab and Rajasthan regions of the India. In about 1050 they began a migration to Europe and North Africa.
They speak their own language and put a great emphasis on folk music and superstitions. Their culture also places high importance on extended family.
To this day they are still considered a nomadic people, but that's a stereotype and many of them live in permanent housing. They were enslaved in Romania between the 14th and 19th centuries and were also among the many groups targeted during WWII. As with many cultural groups who were enslaved and persecuted, there are still some lingering negative stereotypes. But that's all they are, stereotypes.

Gypsies are a group of people who do not have a permanent home and roam arround moving from place to place with their clan. They perpetually migrate from place to place owing to weather. Gypsies were particularly found in Spain. They were a happy go lucky kind of people and were known for their singing and dancing.

a gypsy is a label given to people who came from a country in eastern europe that no longer exists. THe more correct term for them is Rom.
Gypsy is a derogetory word for people who live their lives by stealing, or cheating people out of their money.

gypsies are a romantic notion. they do still exist, but if they are still living the classic gypsy wandering/traveling life, they don't have political power. they are more of a culture than a race or nationality.

They were enslaved in Romania between the 14th and 19th centuries..and tortured, hunted or put to dead (by law) in the so called civilized and advanced Central and Western Europe!

They are fat men/scanky women who live in caravans and steal things.
I have a thumb down but i have had a lot of contact with gypsies and been victims of them on numerous occasions, i wouldn't mind betting i have had more contact with them then the person to thumb me down.
