He was acquitted because there was no evidence against him "beyond reasonable doubt". There was circumstantial evidence but that is not good enough in a criminal law!
The prosecution was diabolical in that case. They asked him to try gloves in the court which they thought he wore at the time of the act but those gloves did not fit him. Now which Court of the land would convict in those circumstances? Perhaps in a Banana Republic!
Police have got him this time and assuming they can find unbiased jurors, he could get 30 years!

It is actually pretty common, when criminal prosecution fails to bring a guilty verdict, for the victim to bring a civil suit and win.
This is what happened in OJ's case. The criminal jury could not find him guilty "beyond reasonable doubt," but the civil jury found him by "preponderance of evidence," to be "liable" for the two murders.
This illustrates the difference between the criminal court and civil court. Since a criminal conviction carries a possible prison term, the criminal court requires proof "beyond a reasonable doubt" to convict somebody. Since civil liability leads only to the loss of money or property, the standard is "preponderance of evidence" and the jury doesn't have to be unanimous.

They can-but you have to go to court and have a civil trial. Then it has to be decided if the defendant has to pay restitution to the family. Obviously, OJ was found innocent of the murders in the criminal court, but guilty in the civil court.
It's time consuming and expensive, but if you have the time and the money, I guess it's worth it. OJ hasnt paid all that much money to the Goldman family, but he can afford other things. Oh well.

The Goldmans will never get a dime of OJ's money. He got away with murder and he'll get away wthout paying a dime also.
The race card wins everytime.
Hint: If you're ever before a judge, just tell him you were framed just like OJ was. Case closed.

Florida Gal is absolutley right. He also has refused to "work" since that lawsuit. He claims he would rather play golf everyday rather than give his money to the Goldmans.
Or try and pull of "sting" operations in Vegas.
Every other murderer does not have his kind of money to pay high profile lawyers.

Why is it that people can rape and beat young woman and still be let out on bail?
Why is it that a man accused of robbery be held without bail but his gun holding partner be set free without bail?
Why is is that there are still areas of this country that are "white only"?
Why is it 2 black children are charged with theft of a fire arm after disarming a man threatening THEM with his shot gun?
Why are six children facing time in jail for a fight that happen at school and the child who was "beaten" attended a school function that same day?
Let's ask some questions that people care about!
OJ isn't news.......lol not in my world.

The families of the victims must file a civil lawsuit. In many cases they due but you just don't hear about it because it's not high profile cases. But you should know that O.J. had already with the help of his attorney hid most of his money in off-shore banks to avoid paying. He really hasn't paid for his crimes.
