Easy! Assuming you're using XP,
Click Start>Run
Type msconfig

Go to the startup tab, disable anything you don't want to start on first boot...

You won't recognize most of the stuff in msconfig. Just uncheck everything. You don't need any of that stuff for Windows to run clean. And drag all the stuff out of the startup menu in the program menu to someplace safe. If anything you need stops working right, you can recheck the item in msconfig, or drag the item back into the startup folder in the Program menu.

Maybe she means pop up add's .

Click on "tool's" at the upper right corner of your screen .On the drop down menu scroll to ,"pop up blocker " ,turn on pop up blocker. If there is a site that you wish to have pop up's, say like Myspace group's ,you type in the Myspace URL to allow the window pop up By going to the pop up blocker settings and typing it in the blank and checking ok

go to start>run> type in msconfig

then go to the STARTUP tab and select/ deselct which programs you don't want or want. The restart and programs you have deselected should not start. Also go to start> all programs> startup and delete any unwanted programs form the list

=> Choose the programs you want to open automatically on start up.

They are called start up programs and you have to download windows defender, in the options they have an option where can control your options.

its probably a virus/spyware/adware run your virus scan in safemode
