I think it is nice as a middle name, ancient and noble...
maybe it would sound well with

ANTHONY GAWAIN

THOMAS GAWAIN

DAMIAN GAWAIN

TRISTAN GAWAIN

Read some commentaries...stupid how so many critisize old names but applaude some new, trashy ones, ghetto styled...
I prefer Gawain a million times to some awkward spelled invented name
Yohunass ( Jonas) and the sorts

so if you like the ancient name go ahead and use it

good luck

I prefer the more modern form Gavin.

Though Gawain was my fave knight of the round table too... It just is too odd sounding in modern English...

Perhaps as a middle name?

No, I don't like it. It sounds like some kind of a Medieval thing, like "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight." Go with Gavin.

Nice - if you want your child to hate you for giving them such a terrible name. It sounds like something out of Lord of the Rings.
Really, it is awful.

Love it! One of the knights of the round table! Lancelot is cool too!

Great in the tales of King Arthur. Not so hot for a real person.

Eh. It's got history, but it's pretty out there. Maybe Gideon? Also unusual, but not as startling.
