By definition, pop music never went anywhere. Pop music is simply the music that is most popular at a given time. Pop was Elvis in the 50's, the Beatles in the 60's and so on. Right now, it just seems like bands such as MCR and Fall Out Boy have become the new pop.
If you were referring to bubblegum pop (Britney, Christina, etc.) then yes, there will always be a market for sugary stuff like that. It probably won't be the same set of artists, but something similar will eventually come back into vogue.

It has always been here. One day a friend of mine who was a big singer back in 50's 60's and 70's said that "Music will come back" it did, that singer is Miss Connie Francis, the Queen Of Rock and Pop Music.

If you mean in terms of New Kids On the Block or NSync, HOPEFULLY NOT! But "pop" stands for popular. So technically anything "hot" is pop, whether it's hip-hop or rock.

do you know what is funny about this question... what does pop stand for? Popular Culture! and so pop is always in... because it is what every is most popular! Now the question is... "will the pop THAT I LIKE come back?"... and the answer is not until it becomes retro and therefor cool again. sorry to burst your bubble!

Huh? Is "Pop music Will" someone's name? or are you just talking about Pop Music? If that is the case, Pop music is whatever crap is popular at the time. (A.K.A. whatever is played on KIIS FM in L.A.)
