I am 11 weeks pregnant, and one of very good friends is doing her bachelorette party in Vegas. They are staying at a hotel where I would have to walk through the casino with all the smoke to get to the rooms. We all know that smoke damages the fetus, I just don't feel conforatble exposing my self to second hand smoke and risk my baby's life. I don't know if I am being over protective or if I am right?! So, I am thinking of staying on my own hotel smoke free for now. The only problem is that, it is Vegas and it is hard to avoid the smoke. Let alone to force the entire group of girls to hang out where I can only breath clean aitr, like the Bellagio.. I heard they are good about smoke free casino spots. I feel unconforatble thiking I may inconvenience them and spoil their fun to the point where I am thinking of not going, but that would break my friend's heart since I am in the wedding party and she attended my bachelorette party. Dunno. Am I being overprotective? PLEASE help!

I don't think you're being too overprotective. It's better to care too much then too little :).

I would say to go. And stay in your own hotel if it makes you feel better(although, a walk through the smoke to and from the room probably won't hurt your or baby).

As for going out, I would say go with them where they are going and check out the environment first, have some fun, and if things get too smokey, excuse yourself and find a nice show to go to or something.

I don't think a day or a weekend of just walking through a room of smoke will hurt your baby especially if you are just walking thru to get to your hotel room. Like the other person said, it's long term expousure. Vegas casinos have AWESOME ventilation systems so it may not be as bad as you think. You do whats best for you & your baby, but I dont think it will have any lasting effects on the growing baby. Talk to your Dr about & see what they suggest.

Well it's great that you are thinking of the baby! I don't think just walking through there would be too bad. I always hold my breath! LOL! But your friends should be understanding if you were to stay in a smoke free hotel.
Good Luck and Congrats.

sorry to say this, it's gonna sound mean, but there really is no point in u going. Ur friends want to drink n go out n have fun. They r gonna want to go to clubs and other places that aren't smoke free enviroments. Also it would b kinda rude to stay at a different hotel than the bride, especially since ur in the bridal party.

Yes and no....While walking into the casino is not likely to cause a birth defect in your unborn child, you are still trying to do what is best for your child. I have never been to Vegas, but I do know that the casinos where I live have lots of smokefree areas. Talk to your friend and tell her your concerns. Maybe she will think of alternate plans.

many of the nice casinos have great ventalition systems, its not very smokey at all. Many even have seperate vent systems for the smoke free rooms and floors so there si no cross contamination. A weekend of slight smoke exposure will not cause any damage to your baby, its the long term exposure thats harmful.

I think for the short amount of time you will be walking through you will be fine. Also, if you feel like your are inconviencing your friends, you may want to reconsider even going. Im sure your friend would understand. And what if they want to go to a bar? You dont want to be a burden especially when everyone is there to have fun and not worry about a smokey room! But if you still decide to go you will be fine!

i think of a stunning thought for a bachelorette party for a pregnant bride is having a women night in. lease some video clips, order in some pizzas, even possibly help her with the marriage like the middle products and such. i does no longer have alcohol there because of the fact it would make her experience ignored that she will't drink and this is her party.

your prego now and so you need to be overprotective, plus are they just gonna be drinking and staying up all night - will that really be fun for you maybe you can throw her a small bridal shower or have a fun girls night, give her her gift and reminder her how you really wish you could go but just can't! it will not be any fun for you sitting in a hotel room all by yourself the whole time. talk to her about it she's your friend and should understand!

You will be fine. You sound like you haven't been to Vegas. Well, ALL the casinos have air systems that pull in fresh air from outside....it really isn't that bad. You & your baby will be perfectly fine. Just go & stay were they are. You'll have so much fun! I'm jealous!
