In Rune Factory, how do you chop wood? Can you chop branches you have already picked up? How?

Question

The "A" button throws the log away and the "X" and "Y" buttons put it in you pack. How do I put it down or something so I can chop it. Please be very detailed in your answer, I am a bit frustrated. Thank you.

If you've already gotten the ax from Bianca you can chop small logs on your field (if you haven't gotten it yet go see her in the mansion on the uper right corner of town).
The cheep ax she gives you doesn't 'cut it' with stumps though. You'll have to upgade it yourself once you house has been remodled or give Leo some amount of Iron (I think it's two but it may be more) and he'll upgrade it for you.
After uprading an ax you can charge it by holding down the B button until there's a little orb of light around your characters hand and then releasing the button. You have to do this six times before the stump vanishes

First you need to equip your axe.

If you don't have and ax you need to talk to Bianca. She's the girl in red with the curly hair that bursts into your house the second day. Go talk to her in her home around 9am and she will give you the ax. (She lives in the large house on the third screen up of town on the right.) While you are in town, talk to everyone else and walk to the end of the dock on the beach to get all the other required tools. (Minus the hammer and all the animal care tools.)

Press start to bring up the menu and either drag, or click the ax into your tool slot.

After that, you press B to swing your ax at branches. They are converted to wood that goes into your wood storage shed automatically. You will not be able to chop stumps until you have had Leo upgrade your ax to second level.

To upgrade the ax you need to get the hammer. Go to the first cave and till 54 squares of land (or 6 3x3 squares.) Talk to Leo when he is opened after that and he will give you the hammer. Use the hammer like the ax on the black and gold rocks in the cave until you have 5 pieces of iron (it takes two blows to break a rock with the hammer.) Then take the iron and your ax, which must be un-equipped, to Leo and he can upgrade it for you.

After the ax is back in your hands, equip it and approach a stump. Hold down B until you hands glow and let go. That is a charged chop. Six charged chops will break a stump, which is worth ten pieces of wood.

Unlike previous HM games there is no need to take wood out of your shed to build a fence since your animals can not leave the barn.

You can put down a branch you pick-up so it doesn’t disappear. Just put it down on land you can till and make sure it doesn’t overlap with anything else.

If your axe is level three it will take a few fully charged swings to break stumps. If you get it to charge then it stops maybe you ran out of RP. If you don't have any RP or an enemy puts a seal on you (a little green circle under the health bar means you are sealed) then you won't be able to charge tools or weapons anymore.

I had a wood burning stove at my house in New York, and so did a lot of cutting, and splitting of wood. I`m in nice, warm Texas now. As far as going fast, that`s a good way to get hurt.
