Solve for the variable in each equation. Move all the variables to one side and the numbers to the other.

1) 4x - 2x = 7 + 5
2x = 12
x = 6

4) t + 3t = 2 - 8
4t = -6
t = -3/2

8) 1 - 10 = 5b - 3b
-9 = 2b
b = -2/9

12) 4f - f = 5 - 11
3f = -6
f = -2

Get the idea now?

these are all equations with unknowns like(x,y,a,t etc) and constants. you have to solve for unknown

ex:
1)

4x - 5 = 2x + 7

group all unknown x terms to left hand side and others to right hand side

subtract 2x and add 5 to each side

4x - 2x - 5 + 5 = 2x - 2x + 7 + 5
2x = 12
divide by 2
x = 12/2 = 6

solve all the remaining problems in the same way

You can add the same thing to both sides of the equation. Solution for problem 1:

4x - 5 = 2x + 7
4x - 5 - 2x = 2x + 7 - 2x (add -2x to both sides to elimiate 2x on the right side)
2x - 5 = 7
2x - 5 + 5 = 7 + 5
2x = 12
x = 6

both sides answers equal the same. u r solving for x.

1)4x-5=2x+7
+5 +5
--------------------
4x=2x+12
-2x -2x
----------------
2x=12
/2
x=6
