It takes so long to access! Sometimes it even freezes the computer. PC is a brand new Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Medion PC bought from Aldi. Any suggestions?

Might need the drivers updating.

Check the manufacturers website for updates.

That is your problem...j/k

Seriously now, sometimes card readers are slow and there is nothing you can do about it. Just use patients when accessing the data on the card.

We expect a lot from our PC's, especially when they're new. I don't blame you for being disappointed. As a new 'shop' build, all the drivers on your machine should be perfect, and right up to date, but if your pc is struggling to do tasks like this, to run large programs or to handle lots of programs at once, you might want to check its RAM memory.
While you're there, check the control panel's Administrative Tools, and look at the event viewer. Are there any error messages with red "x" shapes beside them? If so, these could relate to RAM problems. Click on them, and see what they say. If they suggest ram failure, then get back to your shop pronto, and get the pc's ram replaced. It'll all be under warranty from their supplier, but they should do the work, and if it's going to be a long job, they should give you one to work on in the meantime.

Hope that helps.

Depends on the size of the card and its speed. A 2GB or even 1GB card can take some time to load. It also depends on the resolution of the pics. If you take them at high res and 7-10mpx, each picture could take an age to load from the card. It's better to have more smaller cards than one big one from the speed point of view.

Is the USB bus running as 1.1 or 2.0 mode? Also what is the speed of card?
