isn't it like 16 you could take a parent to court to have custody changed?
or do i really have to stay where i'm at until i'm 18?
because i just started living with my mom, and it's hell. (excuse my language) but i want to go back living with my godmother who raised me since i was in the 5th grade. ('im in the 10th now)

You may file a court action in order to seek a court declaration that you are an "emancipated" teenager. Such orders are not uncommon, but you need to seek competent advice from someone who is knowledgable about family law in your state.

In most states it is 16. You can go to family court where they will appoint you a lawyer to emancipate you from your mom, and give custodial guardianship to your godmother. Have you spoke to your godmother? There's not a doubt that she loves you as much as you love her. You can call the police department in the state you live and ask them the age question, they'll be able to lead you to the people that can help you get back to where you want to be without getting anyone in trouble including yourself!
Good Luck honey, I'm sorry there are parents out there that don't know what a blessing their children are, mostly I'm sorry for the children of these selfish as$es

With a court order, yes, you could separate from your mom at 16. But what about it makes it hell?

Where's your dad in the picture?

I'm involved with the youth group at our church so I can somewhat relate to what might be happening in your home.

If you need someone to talk to and your dad isn't available, let me know. You can email me.

I don't know what state you're in, but I know that in CA, there is no "magic age;" it depends on your maturity level. If you don't want to live with your mother, you'll have to convince your godmother to help you change the court order.

FYI, in most states if the your mom wants to fight your attempt to become emancipated, you'll have to prove physical abuse, emotional abuse, or a threat of harm. Hopefully, you're not in that type of situation. If you are, you should contact the closest Child Services office and ask them how to proceed.

At 18 you emancipated, unless you get the courts to step in to release you.

Obviously you don't have to money to do that. So it looks if you can't change your mothers mind, you're stuck.
