FRED! never vote for a socialist pro-amnesty candidate (that's all the dems). McCain & Rudy are pro-amnesty and Paul is a kook!

YOu should study the issues and decide for yourself. DO NOT ask anyone who you should vote for. You vote for the person that represents your values and goals, hopes and dreams for this country. Not because your parents, or your husband/boyfriend tell you how to vote. Do your own research, become informed and educated, and then choose. It is really simple. Try to read a couple of newspapers a day, watch some diverse political shows ( including those from overseas ) and TALK to people about it. Most people are apathetic about "politicians" because they don't take the time to learn anything. They may want to vote for Obama because he is black or Hillary because she is a woman, and those are the WRONG reasons ( and they are both knowledgeable and articulate ). They both have great qualities beside gender and color that make them good candidates.

Don't listen to anything that any of the politicians says. I know most people are too lazy, but what you really need to do is check the candidates voting records (if the have a history in legislative bodies), or the policies they have used in past (if they have a history in the executive branch). Most of the candidates (republican and democrat) are lawyers, if that tells you anything.

(I'm not saying all lawyers are bad, but profit, not idealism is the driving force behind most lawyers in their careers)

There are TWO elections in 2008.

The first one is called the "Primary" election, the second one is called the "General" election.

If you're a U. S. citizen over 18 you have the right to vote in both elections.

However there may be a catch in your state, there is in mine.

In order to vote in the primary election for the candidate of your choice, you have to "PRE" register as a member of your chosen candidates political party.

Example:
I'm voting for Ron Paul in the primary election, so I had to re-register from an Independent to a Republican, to vote for him in the all important primary elections.

Good Luck & I hope this helps!

Tough choice with all the spin. Sit down and make a list. Check Yes, No, Undecided next to each one.
Example:
Abortion
Right to own guns
Free speech
political correctness
more government spending
bigger government
strong military
government controlled health care (social medicine)

and anything else you can think of.
Start studying the candidates. Figure out which party stands where you do.
Good luck.

After years of disappointment over the Bush administration, we need a drastic change. I suggest you vote for Ron Paul. He is anti-war, wants to lower taxes for the middle class and poor, voted no against the Patriot Act, voted no against the amendment banning gay marriages. He believes the United States should have a non-internationalist foreign policy where we trade and negiote with other countries instead of fighting useless wars where so many innocent people die. He wants to drastically reduce the debt the United States is in and restore our country to the democracy it once was. Finally we have a voice for the people.. one that isn't backed by corporations and lobbyists.. but by the people.. Ron Paul is a man of his word.. just check his track record.. He knows where he stands on the issues, unlike other candidates whose stances seem to change from week to week.. I truly believe he can boost the morale of this country and restore a democracy for the people not just for the elite...

You need to look for the candidate that supports your beliefs and values and nowadays that is a hard thing to do as they all say one thing and then do another. Just keep your eyes on both parties and when you find someone you like or that appeals to your belief or values vote for them it's really not anyone's place to tell you who or how to vote

a lot of people would say you look for honesty but you are talking about politician. what you look for is consistency, if you are in favor of the war you look for a candidate who has a strategy to handle the war more carefully and who would find more tools to fight terrorism. if you oppose the war you look at a candidate who flat out says i oppose the war and this is my plan to get us out of the war, and then you look at the candidate who has a plan that is reasonable and believable. democrat or republican that choice is yours you just have to find out and look at all the candidates you have a year to do it and then you can see if you are republican or democrat.

In my opinion you need to look at all the candidates and what they stand for. Compare what they stand for to your beliefs and moral values. I sure wouldn't vote for someone that backed everything or most of what I was against.

If you don't know then don't vote. Research the candidates' platforms and backgrounds before making a decision.

Vote for neither! Vote for Ron Paul. Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation's capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies.

Congressman Paul has been making headlines with his honest, truthful and powerful message. Both Republicans and Democrats who learn about him are quickly jumping on board because of Paul's wide appeal. His message is going viral and people are waking up!

Ron is being heavily censored by large television and news corporations such as Fox News, NBC, etc. For some reason(business and self interest as usual), they don't want you to know or support Ron Paul and are scared of what he has to say.
Ron Paul:

Introduced bill to end Iraq War 2007
Plans to remove all US troops from both Iraq and the rest of the Middle East
Voted against Iraq War in 2002
Denounced doctrine of pre-emptive war
Took off table future pre-emptive strike on Iran
Will cut foreign military expense by $500 million
Calls to repeal unconstitutional “PATRIOT” Act
Does not get millions from big corporations
Calls to end government subsidies to corporations

During his 20 years in Congress, Dr. Ron Paul has NEVER voted for a tax hike or an unbalanced budget.
He wants to phase out the IRS! He voted against the Iraq war. He voted against his own pay raise (10 times!) and he returns part of his office budget to the US Treasury each year. Prior to serving in Congress, Dr, Ron Paul delivered 4000 babies. He and his wife Carol have been married for 50 years. They have 18 grandchildren.
