A lot of importmant information depends upon the brand, year and model of your car. Newer cars have iridium sparkplugs which are good for 100,000 miles. However the sparkplug wires degreade long before the plugs need replacing. We really need to know weather you have a distributor or coil packs.

It depends on what is included in the tune up. Nowadays it is mainly just spark plugs and filters. Neglecting these won't damage your engine, but they will make you get worse mileage. Make sure you change the oil and trans fluid regularly, the plugs and air filter you can put off for 10k miles over the recommended replacement interval.
