Hi everyone,
Just wondered if anyone else has ever had a weak cervix and how they got on with the rest of their pregnancy. I'm on bedrest now for ages and soooooooo bored already! I'm only 17 +2!

hello... i don't actually have a weak cervix but i did go into premature labour at 25 weeks and lost my twin girls due to premature complications, so in this pregnancy i'm being watched very carefully. i had scans at 16 weeks, 20 weeks and will have one at 23 weeks to measure the length of my cervix to determine it's strength. if their are any signs of a problem at my next scan they will put in a cerclarge to keep my cervix closed, but so far all is well and they think my previous preterm delievery was because of carrying twins and having 3 times the amount of fluid than normal in each sac (they were identical and they'r were problems with the waters throughout). however i have been in hospital alot and have been told to rest at home from now onwards, i have been unwell for the past two years and am unable to work.. so yes i know how boring it is, but im doing a degree 'open university' in business studies and that keeps me busy, i can do it at home on my laptop, and i like to read but yea it still gets boring... gud luck and congrats on the baby xxxxxxxx

You are due 3 days before my birthday. Did you have the stitching done? I lost a baby girl last Aug at 21 weeks. Next time I have to have the stitching done around 13-14 weeks along. I have not been brave enough to try again. Mine was caused by the rough birth of my son. He was an emergency c-section at 29 weeks and he was already 1/2 way down the birth canal. When they pulled him out it damaged my cervix. My doctor told me that most likely I would not have to be on bed rest, but that I would have to take it easy and not work. I am working 3 jobs right now trying to get bills paid off so it won't be a problem. Good luck to you and your baby.

I take it by 17+2 you mean 17wks 2 days. My aunt had an incompetent cervix and gave birth to 4 healthy babies. I know it's hard but take your doctors advice and take it easy. She went into pre-term labor several times, she was lucky that they were able to stop it and keep those babies in for long enough. She was an ER nurse and did not follow her doctors orders.

Good luck, listen to your doctor, and hope for the best.

Welcome to bed rest. I was put on bed rest at 4 months along due to preclampsia (sp?) I didn't have an incompetent cervix though.

How old are you? 17 and your having twins? Multilple births usually result with the mother on bed rest. Multiple births are high risk b.c the shared umbilcal and the space...
