Amazingly the libs pick and choose human rights violations. Iraq's human rights vilotations were near the bottom of the list (remember the Kurds) but there are certian "freethinkers" and self-truthers that are libs that have praised and even said that Iraq was better off with Saddam It is sad to see such hypocritical antics from the libs

Is this such a big issue? i admit that Saudi Governament is doing totally wrong and this is actualy not anywhere in islam that woman can not drive...you would see women driving so freely in "all" the rest of the muslim countriies..Only Saudi Arab has some different policy ..but tell me...it is there culture..Right? and what if a woman goes out with a man on the driving seat? Come on..its not a matter of life and death..and there are many women even in west who can not drive becuase "they don't want to".... Woman can not drive, but they have their other basic rights....I am not saying that women should not given this right..."saudi governmant "MUST" give this right to woman and i am sure they would do"..but please this is not that major thing to be highlighted again and again.....i logged in half an hour back and have seen soo many such question both in religion section and here.....as if some one has dropped a nuke somewhere....this is an issue..but not of that degree as it is projected !

OMG. We, Americans, take our liberties for granted don't we? You know, this reminds me of an article I read probably 10 years ago when I worked at a women's shelter. The article was by or about Hillary Clinton and the mutilation of women's genitalia in the Middle East. It's obvious that these 'peaceful and God fearing' people don't think highly of females.
However, driving a car is not a human right. When you get right down to it, what is a human right? I think human's have more duties than they do rights, or at least should not expect certain rights until they have met certain responsibilties.
On the other hand, noone deserves the pain and humiliation of sexual mutilation. Now THAT is something to be outraged about.
And I'm not a liberal.

Odd. The current administration seems to be indifferent to the plight of ordinary Saudi citizens while being all the bit cozy with the wealthy royals. So much for Bush wanting to spread democracy.
Also, your blatant misuse of the word "neolib" as a label for the left is amusing.

What, you just figured that out?!!! Women in Saudi arabia must wear veils and cannot look a man in the eye. They have few, if any rights at all.

I am so much more outraged at the Republicans who can ignore the fact that 47 million Americans have no health insurance and no access to health care. That they scream personal responsibility and NO MORE TAXES while they send their kids to private school and pay little or no tax because they have hide behind numerous tax shelters. THAT makes me outraged.
We have no say in how women in other cultures are treated. To insinuate that we are shirking responsibility to them is absurd.

Yes it's a human rights issue, however, it is also a culture issue, and not for me to decide. Actually, it's not for any of us to decide since that is their country and their business. Women fought for their own rights here, and we didn't get help from other countries!

REMEMBER: It is the neo-cons like Cheney who have the most influence with Saudi Arabia.
