if you are worried about the chemicals, you can strip wallpaper by scoring the surface and applying fabric softener...at least according to the guys on A & E's Sell This House.

It is a state law in California that any product with ingredients thought to cause or in any way be related to causing cancer must be labeled as you describe. It could be any of a number of chemicals that are thought to cause cancer. But, it might only be a possible factor in causing cancer if you ingest it or it comes in contact with your skin. You might also have to soak your skin in it for days or ingest large amounts over a long period of time for it to be a factor in causing cancer.

So, follow the directions on the label, wear the recommended protective clothing, and don't worry about it.

AIR Contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer! This "Warning" has been so overused as to be useless!
