Actually, I've already planted it. (tee hee) I don't have much gardening experience- so I wonder, is it okay? It would be surrounded by flowers, such as lantana perrenials. impatiens, Alyssum, Begonia- pretty much most of the annuals. Is there anything I shouldn't be planting by the tree?? Thanks a lot!!

Ya dun gud gurl. It will benefit from the love and care the flowers get. One thing though, it will grow and make shade and a new home for more and more shade loving plants. Another thing to remember are the apples, when they fall from the tree they can raise heck with thin skinned plants, almost like large hail; but you have years to work it out. Rscott

I wouldn't. Once it gets bigger and starts dropping apples, not very much will grow under it.

But whatever floats your boat. That's the beauty of gardening, one person's garden oasis is another's jungle from hell.
