Read this article for further information...do you think this would seriously impact our world if we had to do without phones/tvs etc. if either debree cripples these satellites or if some ill intentioned nation takes them down?

I think it's quite possible if you think about it. Many weapon systems rely on GPS technology, take out the satellites on which they depend they're useless.

I also think our military depends way too much on them. I can easily see a nation like China taking out satellites as a prelude to all out war with the West. As we all know recently they shot down one of their satellites as a test. They did it for a reason.

i think it is low risk - compared to many others, but yes, if we lost ALL satellites there would be a very big mess.

But we wouldn't loose ALL satellites from space junk.
just a random satellite. Space junk is as likely to take out other space junk as a working one.

Yeah, I'm curious what the governments solution to space junk will be. It's bad enough we've packed theis planet full of junk over the years, now space?.....sigh...It's like we're throwin our McDonalds bags out the Earths window, right out into the Space highway, ya know?!
