i lost one half but i still have the half which contains the full serial number. can i change this at a bank

Nope. You have to have three quarters of a note+ to be able to change one as damaged.

Or it's weight in ashes, if you burn it. But they do all sorts of tests on burned banknotes.

Otherwise, someone could try the same scam with the other half of the note!

The best way to find out is to give it a go. The answer is probably "no", as you would potentially be able to take the two halves to the bank seperately and get £100.

You need two matching serial numbers and the queens head to claim it.

you will find they will measure it to make sure they have at least 50% of the note otherwise it will be worthless
