Are there any ways around this? I know of a friend who lives in RI who has indeed had homebirths, but they were several years ago and I wonder if the laws are new... I'll have to ask her. Thanks if anyone knows!

I'll have to look into using a midwife from Mass., and no I don't want a birthcenter.

Can you get your friend's midwife's information and see?

I don't know how far you are from Massachusetts but there are but from my reading it's a very friendly homebirth state.

Homebirth is not against the law, but having a midwife attend was.

Rhode Island is a small state. Can you find a birth center out of state? At a birth center, you could have a midwife and the natural birth you want. They will even let you eat during labor in the birth center.
