My Dad had a good idea they should make it a rule in that situation to have it so only people on the field can call a time out. The ball was snapped and the kick was good and they "called a time out" supposedly, strategy is one thing but winning like this isn't anything to be proud of in my opinion.

I thought it was, and I'm a Giants fan just casually watching from home. If they had called the timeout, it still needs to be acknowledged. And if it was acknowledged, why did the snap and the kick take place and why did no ref make a signal or blow his whistle to stop the play. If Shanny did call a timeout, it was a poor job by the officials, but still, Oakland should have won that game. I feel bad for Janikowski.

1. It was perfectly legal. The time out was called prior to the snap AND a whistle was blown.
2. Teams have been using time outs to "ice" kickers since the dawn of time. Shannahan just waited a few more seconds than most coaches do.
3. Janikowski lost the game for the Raiders. There was no "fix". There was no mystery rule that was followed or broken. It wasn't because the Radiers are hated in Denver, it was because jelly roll missed the kick!

As far as I'm concerned, a win is a win. Even my Raider fan neighbor agreed with me when we talked about it in the driveway this morning.

Actually, they used to have a rule several years ago where the only people that could call a time out were the players. However, I'm also a firm believer that players win and lose a game. Janikowski hits the same FG that he made earlier, it's a Raider win.....and that's from as unbiased a person as you can get....I'm a Seahawks fan, and I hate both former AFC West foes equally

By the way, Elway still sucks!!!!!

I agree! Shady is an understatement. I also believe that no-one should be allowed to call a time out so close to any play. The thing is that unless it's in the rule books, we can't do anything about it except be happy or mad depending on who u are rooting for! Personally, in last nights game, I wasn't rooting for any team in particular but it still made me a little upset!!

I think it was good. They called timeout right before the ball was snapped and at least one ref below whistle. I remember hearing it.

Hey the kicker gets paid to do a job. He gots an extremely strong leg and did you see where he kicked at, nobody can kick the ball like him. He choked.

It's not like they were taping signals or anything like that.

I don't know how to spell the kickers name.

Raiders should have won the game. Broncos didn't cheat like the Pats did but it was a bit sneaky.

I definitely think it was shady. Perhaps if the ball wasn't kicked, I'd think differently, but when I saw that happen, I was in awe. I guess it's legal, but the TO seemed to happen way too late. Thank god it didn't happen to our Brownies.

As a Raider fan, I was appalled, of course. I was jumping up and down and my hubby was, like, "They called a time out." JEEZ! I think that was highly unfair and that they shouldn't be allowed to call it once they've snapped. P*ssed me off even more when we didn't do it right back to them at the end, with 2 timeouts left. Of course, they were much closer.

Yeah. It sucked. :-(

I think it was a great win in the context of the rules. They used every advantage that was legal and I was impressed by the intelligence shown.

I am Not a broncos fan!

I don't think it was that shady but everyone is allowed to have their thought on this. Me being a Broncos fan won't allow me to answer this without being bias.
