Change formulas. He could be allergic. I'd switch to something like neutramagen, which is hypoallergenic. If he still has the problem, THEN it's reflux. I'd be more inclined to think it's a dairy allergy than reflux. Reflux wouldn't cause him to arch his back or have loose poos. Allergies would.

Reflux is when they vomit, not just spit up. There's not much meds that can help the baby, just change feeding habits.

Are you using formula? If so, you may need to ask the doc, and change to a gentler formula, with smaller proteins.

Then, while feeding, take breaks during feeding. After every ounce, pull the bottle out and let the little one breath, or burp. Then continue. Also, hold the baby upright for a bit after feeding, don't lay them down. Using a Nuk after feeding can also help settle the stomach.

Sorry, I don't know much if you're breast feeding.

Sounds like reflux...does he cry a lot after he's done or when you take the bottle away? They make a really good formula for that! Talk to his doc about it...it's really thick and HELPS especially if your child is having any problems gaining weight. The little boy I take care of was 3 pounds under weight because of this poor guy!! But is now getting bigger...1 pound gained in a WEEK!! Anyways also try putting a NUK in his mouth while you burp him. it's like it keeps him swallowing, so he can't really spit up. Good Luck and congrats!!

My son had acid reflux. We had to feed him smaller amounts every couple of hours until he got over it. With medication most babies are over it by 6 months. We also had to give him soy formula. Once we switched him to soy he rarely spit up.
I just wanted to add that my son was born almost 3 months early and the nurses at Children's Hospital told me not to worry too much when he spit up. It's gross, but they said that they do not spit up all the feeding. Most of what you see is mucus. My son still gained two pounds between doctor visits when he came home from the hospital.

my son has reflex. he was spitting up almost full bottles at a feeding. he went through an upper gi and it was determeined to be reflux. i would talk to your dr about it asap. it could be something more serious then reflux or it could be that he just needs a formula change. my son is on nutramigen formula (expensive though) which i was told was easier on thier tummys if they do in fact have reflux. it is a hypoallergic formula. hope this helps.

my daughter started getting sick at about 6 wks old. She would vomit up more of the formula then she would keep down. Talk to your babys doctor about changing his formula(it might be to strong) or ask about Prilosic for babies. My daughter was on that for 3 months and it really helped her.

When your son is older and ready for real milk you might want to do that over a few weeks while mixing it with formula.

the arching may be heartburn along with the reflux.. call your doctor so that you can give your baby something like pepcid.. or maybe you can just switch formulas.. either way talk to your doctor

If you think that he is having acid reflux then try inclining his mattress, or putting him on him tummy , that is what i had to do with my both my sons. good luck and congrats

one of my twins had silent reflux (she arched backwards into a horseshoe but hardly ever spit up, but she appeared to always be in pain) they diagnosed reflux and put her on zantac and it worked wonderfully!!!!
