I'm playing the character of Audrey in a school production of As You Like It. I don't know anything about her character.

What's her character like? Nice, greedy, mean, etc.

Does she have a job? I read somewhere she's a whore...?

Is it a big part? Medium? Small-ish?

Well, the first thing to do is to read the script several times--that's the advice of Anthony Hopkins.
To give you my opinion, however, I tend to see Audrey as very sexy without knowing she is. She is impressed by Touchstone having seen more of the world than simply the Forest of Arden and doesn't always know that he's making lewd comments. At the same time, she doesn't just go for a roll in the hay; she makes him marry her. So she is not a push-over. Her job would probably be a shepherd (he is with thee and thy flocks).
She isn't dumb, just not experienced in the ways of the court. And I doubt if she's a whore--she might have had a few lovers, but she never charged them anything!

Why dont you read the play and find out. Shakespeare tells all you need to know in the play.

She is a shepherdess, ignorant and in love with Touchstone, who has another girl friend. Rosalind straightens it all out. Wherever did you read she's a whore? What a dumb idea.

Very small part, but great fun.

she's a funny part but smallish. (i always wanted that part, but i got Phoebe ehh still good- got to yell haha) she's a goat herder who falls in love with the court fool Touchstone. some productions have her vain, others appreciating touchstone's humor and intelligence. she's just a very plain and common girl with no real recognizable traits- it's really touchstone creating the comedy there. break a leg up there, have fun, and remember that a small character can always steal the show!!
